Do we repeat ourselves?
That would be a #12
So this weekend husband Wesley and I were driving into D.C.; we’ve been doing this long enough that we say the same thing when we pass the usual landmarks.
-That coffee shop on S. Washington that has had many lives. Wesley tells the story of a commercial building in California that kept turning over and closing shop. Until a Jack Sizzler moved in.
-A Tesla Cybertruck drives by. That’s my cue to complain that Elon Musk for inflicting that hideously ugly design on the rest of the world.
We drive through Old Town, Alexandria. I sigh about how much I loved living in Old Town.
Enough already. We decided we’ve got to mix it up, lest we keep saying the same thing over and over again. So we are giving our canned phrases numbers instead.
#1. Miss living in Old Town.
#5. Tesla Cybertruck looks hideous.
#8 Jack Sizzler turnover.
#12 We’re repeating ourselves again.
And we’re keeping the list in Field Notes or cell phone.
So the next time we take that drive, we won’t be repeating the same stock phrases. We are going shorthand with numbers.
Don’t forget to subscribe, or to send this to a friend and tell the friend to subscribe, and oh yeah, suscribe. #12.

Last week’s blog was on memory so I’m wishing you both good luck in remembering which number goes with each phrase or landmark!
Good point, Barbara. We write down the numbers in "Field Notes." We shall have to expand landmarks judiciously.
