Old guys singing, Part 2
Art Garfunkel edition
Art Garfunkel, who is 15 years North of 65, still can sing as this rendition of Scarborough Fair makes clear. His voice is steady, and he is taking his time, adding to the lyrics’ sense of yearning.
We’re in the same age cohort, so you must remember your parents’ or other adults reactions to big name musicians back in the day. What will they do in when they’re older? our elders scoffed, with a tilt to their chin that suggested that any entertainment that couldn’t carry a career into one’s 50s was chump change. Unworthy.
Who thought that talents like Garfunkel or Phil Collins would still be crooning into their 80s? We weren’t sure they’d still be on stage past middle age.
And while there was a time when my generation might have scoffed at a big name up on a stage well into his (sometimes her) Social Security years, I don’t hear that today.
I see a master who does not want to let go of his craft. And inside I am clapping.
Please feel free to share video of other North of 65 stars.

Fun! Diverging a bit: would folks have thought it possible to improve on "Sound of Silence?" How 'bout if I told you, yes, and by a rock singer with a pierced chin? I know little of music or singing, but this guy's octave range is incredible, IMO:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bk7RVw3I8eg
Judy Collins still has it - and her vocal presentation, a deeper resonant quality than her lovely 60s/70s songs.
