While we're on the subject...Alexandria itself is named after Alexander the Great, a tyrant who killed thousands in order to impose Macedonian rule on Greece, Asia Minor, and parts of India. And Virginia is named after Elizabeth I, the virgin queen. Not only is that offensive to the many mothers and other non-virgins who live in the state, but also it honors a woman who ordered the execution of Mary Queen of Scots.

Eric, I thought the same when we moved here, but Alexandria is named after John Alexander, a Scotsman.
